Blue Agave

The backbar installation is intended to be an interpretation of the blue agave plant. In the production of Tequila and Mezcal, the powder blue-green spikey leaves are removed and the heart is roasted, pulverized and fermented. The cocktail menu features a wide selection of small batch Mezcals imported directly from Mexico, hence the association.
The bent, painted metal panels are cnc cut and press brake formed. I built a 3D model, and exported the unfolded panels to create 2D linework, which were used by the fabrication shop directly. The fabricator cut hte forms with a CNC, and then used a numbered, color coded diagram to layout the panels, weld them to a frame, grind smooth, bondo and paint.
